Taking on Philly

I think one thing I have realized while living in the city is how much I really do want to travel. Regardless if its going somewhere close to home that I haven't been to before, another city or to another country there is just so much that I want to see. This past week was my spring break; my friends and I decided to take advantage of where we live and visit Philadelphia, although while being home in Jersey I am actually closer to Philly then I am to New York I have never taken a day to go explore the city. So I grabbed my best friend from home and my friend from college who lives near Philly and we decided it was the perfect time too!

One of the places we made sure to visit whilst in Philly was the Magic Garden, this took 14 years for the artist to construct. The garden was a complete mosaic constructed of everything from glass, bottles to bike rims. Every piece you walked through was like walking through the artist mind there was no perfect theme or no perfect part, each part was unique and equally as beautiful.

Every city you go to has a completely different feel to it, along with it comes different types of people and so much incredible history.  For me, it's one of the most enjoyable things about going to different places no matter how far from each other they are you can feel like you are somewhere so new.

February Favorites

In the spirit of the new year I have decided to actually use my blog more than once every few months. This means I'm going to be trying a lot of new types of post such as beauty and fashion post as well as my New York City life posts. So this is my first of many monthly favorites post!

My first beauty items are my Mac Studio Finish Concealer I got this in the color NC15 since I'm as pale as you can be. This is the second concealer I have purchased from Mac and it was absolutely worth the money, it comes in a compact because it is much heavier then one that is completely liquid based this gives it really good coverage. The other beauty/makeup item is the Too Faced Endless Summer, Long-Wear Bronzer, this was actually given to me by a friend who didn't like the color for her skin so I figured I would give it a whirl. I am absolutely in love with it and use it everyday. I don't like when my bronzer has a lot of shimmer in it which this does not at all.

In the past few months my lipstick collection has gotten very much out of hand, I have so many I'm not even sure where to keep them all. But out of all of the ones I have my TopShop is by far my absolute favorite. The color is a deep red almost burgundy which makes it perfect for both day and night.  The best part about this lipstick is how long it last, I can put it on before leaving for class and not have to worry about it until hours later. I have gotten so many compliments whilst wearing this I would recommend TopShop lipsticks over my Mac ones any day and they are relatively the same price

As I was saying my lip collection has gotten out of hand, and I was on a mad search for a lipgloss/plumper after going to sephora and speaking to a sales associate there I decided to go with the Buxom full on lip cream in the color pink lady. I made sure to get one that I knew wasn't going to tingle to the point of it being dreadful to even have on. So far so good, I got it in a light pink so I would be able to layer it over the Mac lipstick I wear often, but it still has enough pigment to be worn by itself. My last lippy favorite is my Baby Lips Dr. Rescue with winter comes wind and with wind comes very chapped lips. I have a very hard time finding anything to keep my lips from getting chapped and these are wonderful. Not only are they moisturizing but they're also tinted so if your in a rush or already out you don't need to worry about bringing along a lipstick.

Hi my name is lazy its wonderful to meet you. I love doing my makeup very much, but when it comes to eye shadow I have no patience at all. I'm actually terrible at applying it also like its horrific. So when I came across these eye shadow pencils which are the Cover Girl Flame out I made sure to grab a couple of them. I got one in a natural brown color so I can make use of it everyday and then I got a lighter pink which I have been using for my inner corners along with the brown. This honestly saves me about 15 minutes and a headache every morning

My next two have been complete life savers with the unbearable cold weather in the city recently. I was in the market for a new face cleanser and cream so when I saw many of the youtubers that I watch raving about how fantastic the First Aid Beauty products were I decided to give them a try. I bought the smaller bottles of them because I wanted to be sure I liked them and that they were worth the investment before purchasing the larger bottles. As soon as these are finished I will  definitely be buying more, the cleanser is really light so it doesn't dry out your skin but it still does the job better then any other cleanser I have tried. I went with the Ultra Repair Cream since it for one came in a set and saved me money and also because I would be able to use it for more then my face need be. It works wonders, with the intense bitter weather I constantly find myself applying any kind of moisturizer I can to my skin and whilst putting this on in the morning before doing my makeup I don't find myself having to worry about it throughout the day.

Hair products! Or it's really just one, but its a life saver! First let me throw out there the fact that I have the worst natural hair ever, Its incredibility thin and straight which makes doing pretty much anything with it nearly impossible. So whenever I hear people talking about anything adding texture or volume to hair I have to try it. Beach spray is something a lot of people are talking about lately and at first I wasn't so interested I had tried it before and it didn't do anything for me. But! After trying it again I decided I'm in love with it, even though it doesn't make my hair super wavy like it would for someone with a natural wave it adds the perfect amount of texture so my hair isn't just straight and hanging there. This one is the Not Your Mothers Beach Babe, which I have been recently using and its just about empty now, so to replace it in the next week or so I have purchased the BangStyle one which I am super excited to try out!

I actually just bought this as a last minute grab while I was out shopping with my sister right after Christmas time, bath and body works never fails with their scents this one is the twisted peppermint body lotion. It smells so so good you almost want to eat it. Every time I put it on and walk into my room my roommate makes a comment about how good it smells.
Obviously being in love with my One Direction boys, when their perfume came out I had to try it. I got the small roll on one for the convenience of being able to fit in my bag no matter which one I'm using. I love the smell of this and I know for some people its just a touch too sweet but I think its definitely light enough to be worn throughout the day.

I of course had to add some of my current fashion favorites into this. My topshop fur-lined denim jacket; I don't even know where to start with this I guess I can say first that I wear it almost everyday. Moving into the city I expanded my jacket collection to about six or seven. This jacket isn't the warmest for some of the city nights but I love how casual it can make an outfit feel or just always gives you that cozy look.

Another huge fashion favorite for me this month has been tartan and flannels. I have had some flannels for a while but only wore them whilst hanging around with friends but lately I have been managing to layer them over all different things, from high wasited jeans and cropped tops to baby-doll dresses.

This is kind of a random favorite but I bought this in the beginning of last semester and have been in love with it since. Now that my roommate and I are out of Christmas candles we have finally taken this out. I'm not exactly sure of the brand because I got it at home goods but its green tea scented which sounds like it would be a really weird smell but its actually not. It has a very simple fresh and clean smell.
